EPISODE 17
homeschooling messed with my faith

This was NOT part of the plan.
When we started homeschooling, faith wasn’t the reason. We didn’t pull our kids out of school for religious purposes—we just wanted something different. More connection. More freedom. Less burnout.
But what I didn’t expect—what wasn’t part of the plan—was how much homeschooling would end up messing with my faith.
Not in a bad way. But in a raw, stretching, uncomfortable, humbling way.
And if you’re standing in that weird middle ground—feeling like you’re not secular enough for the “worldly” groups and not Christian enough for the Bible-verse-in-your-bio moms—I want to tell you: I’ve been there too.
The Faith Tension I Didn’t See Coming
When I stepped into the homeschool world, I felt like an outsider. Not because people weren’t kind—they were. But I felt spiritually… behind. Like I didn’t know the language. Like I wasn’t “varsity” enough to be there.
Women were casually quoting scripture. Talking about spiritual warfare. Playing worship music while their kids made Play-Doh maps.
And there I was—feeling like a baby Christian, hoping no one would ask me to pray out loud.
The Truth: I Almost Walked Away
It would’ve been easy to back out. To decide there wasn’t space for me.
But something in me stayed curious. I kept showing up. I kept listening.
And that steady exposure to women who weren’t performing their faith—but actually living it—started to stir something in me.
Homeschooling didn’t just change how we did school.
It changed how I saw God.
What You’ll Hear in This Episode

The awkward middle ground between secular and spiritual homeschool spaces
How I handled feeling like I wasn’t “Christian enough”
Why being spiritually unsteady didn’t disqualify me
The unexpected way God used homeschooling to rebuild my trust in Him
If This Is You—You’re Not Alone
If you’re listening and thinking,
“I’m not Christian enough for this,”
or
“I don’t even know what I believe right now,”

There’s room for you here.
You don’t have to be spiritually polished to start homeschooling.
